This exhibition, initiated by Isabelle, André Franquin¿s daughter, and with the support of the artist Frédéric Jannin is neither an exhaustive record nor an informative account of La Bande des Quatre. Rather, it is a declaration of love.

By means of rare documents and evocative presentation, it reflects a simple desire to portray a creative spirit made up of influences, dialogues and humour, that spirit which transformed a peaceful family home in Waterloo into a studio bubbling over with ideas, the very melting pot of modern comic strip art.

Marc Sleen was certainly a visionary when in 1995, he had his brainchild Nibbs meet a ghost in the completely run-down building along the Rue des Sables in Brussels. At that time, no-one could ever have imagined that 15 years later, that same building would be housing the Marc Sleen Museum.
So, there are plenty of reasons for dedicating an entire exhibition to this symbolic comic strip album. Come and (re)discover Marc Sleen, his comic strip characters and their adventures!

2009 was proclaimed "Year of the Comic Strip in Brussels. From 2 August onwards you can visit the capital's first comic strip market.
Inspired on the principle of exchanges, this market offers the visitors the opportunity to meet artists, participate to contests, but also to find good deals on new and second-hand comic strips... Signing sessions are also organised to meet the creators of the paper heroes.

The Comic strip festival of the Brussels Capital Region is more dynamic than ever. This year again it welcomes more than 70 comic strip authors for two days. There is a also a large exhibition on the work of Raoul Cauvin (promoter of the 2009 festival), who will be present with all the comic strip drawers.
Tintin fair (Saturday) and comic fair (Sunday), animated comics.
A unique occasion for people to meet all important comic strip authors on one location!
