COMMUNAL MUSEUM OF HERSTAL

In this building, which is listed as seventeenth century Meuse region style, one can discover the folklore of a region and illustrations of everyday life in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. History, acheology (from the prehistory to the Middle Ages) and folklore of the commune and its surroundings. Charlemagne, from History to Legend. Souvenir of the Herstal battles in August 1914 and the war 1940-1945. Everyday life in the 19th century and early in the 20th century. Industries from Herstal.
Inauguration of the 'Espace Greg' on 23 Octobre.

GAUME MUSEUM (VIRTON)

GAUME MUSEUM

Ancient convent of the Récollets from the end of the 17th century and modern wing from 1990. Collections spread out over more than 2000 m². Archaeology: Roman, Gallo-Roman, Merovingian and medieval eras.
Ethnography: local tradition and craftwork, reconstruction of interiors and craft shops, industrial arts (founding and earthenware). Popular arts. Religions, customs and believes of Gaume. Fine Arts: paintings of C. Barthélémy, A. Raty… sculptures from the 12th throughout the 19th century. Fine Arts: regional paintings. Furniture from Lorraine and Luxemburg.
In the section Stories and Legens, you can admire the drawings from Jean-Claude Servais.

HERGE MUSEUM (LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE)

HERGE MUSEUM

The foundation stone of the Hergé Museum was laid by Fanny Rodwell, President of Hergé Studios, on May 21, 2007. The Museum, covering 3,600 m2, is located at the edge of the Source woods, with a viewing platform overlooking the town. The museum is built in the shape of an elongated prism which seems to float on the forest of ancient trees. The road zigzags away below. The footpath from the viewing platform to the museum resembles a ship's gangplank. The museum was designed by Christian de Portzamparc, a Pritzker-Prize-winning architect.

MUNDANEUM (MONS)

MUNDANEUM

The Mundaneum is located in an old large Ar Déco store. It is an archive centre, a place for temporary exhibitions, conferences and debates that wants to let relive the utopian view of its two founders in 1895: bibliographer Paul Otlet and Henri Lafontaine, winner of the Nobel prize for peace (1913). The Mundaneum has an exhibition room designed by François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters.

MUNICIPAL MUSEUM OF HUY

Old convent of the Miner Friars: 13th century church and 17th century convent. Listed monument.
Different aspects of the history and folklore of the town and the region of Huy are on display: religious art, coins and seals, crockery and china, paintings, engravings, archeology, folklore, wine growing and "potstainerie" from Huy (pewter pieces). The climax of the religious art section is the "Beau Dieu de Huy", a masterpiece of Meuse art made around 1240.
You can also discover original works - three plates and a strip - of Maurice Tillieux.

MUSEUM OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCOUT MOVEMENT

Unique in Wallonia. The museum is an educational tool for youngsters. In 7 rooms you will find the first Scout camp of 1907, written work by Baden-Powel, Scout constructions, posters, stamps, badges… This museum is recognised by the World Scout Bureau of Geneva.
Youngsters find among others numerous drawings from big comic strip names such as HERGE, JOUBERT, MITACQ and PEYO.The Museum also presents a comic strip retrospective dedicated to MITACQ with unpublished drawings from the "Patrouille des Castors", which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2004. The first album "Le mystère de GROSBOIS" was published in October 1954.
