The city of La Louvière has developed an ambitious urban and lifestyle project for its citizens throughout 2012
Dwellers get a chance to turn into official "Urbanites":
actors and city-lovers with a flair for welcoming visitors are to take on the official task of promoting the image of this ambitious and creative project.
A starlit programme, punctuated with a multitude of artistic events:
- urban opera "Décrocher la Lune"
- festivals "Si ça vous chante" "5 sur 5" and "Si on dansait"

The town is scattered with visual art with the aim to enhance its image as a cultural hub.

La Louvière, Cultural City 2012, aims to give new value to its extraordinary ancient heritage that encompasses the boatlifts and mine sites under the UNESCO world heritage list. A plan is in progress for the renovation of the town centre, theatre, Centre de la Gravure (Engraving Centre), new Exhibitions Centre as well as the City’s art collections.
