Quartier Saint-Roch
7860 LESSINES
The quarry workers of Lessines honor St Roch, who became their Patron Saint because of his name. These "Cayoteux" are celebrated for some ten days in the middle of August with activities aimed at allowing people to learn about these extractors of porphyry. On Sunday morning, some old quarriers crush the stones in public using the same methods as in times gone by. Among the different attractions at the funfair, there is a cortège of brass bands and giants, followed by a long train of floats and traditional groups.
The procession leaves around 2.30 pm.
A small train, animated parties, orchestras, a beer and cheese market and shows await you.
