This fair started off in 1926 for promoting and celebrating the Belgian draught horse, a nervous, broad-backed, lean animal whose golden age was somewhere between the late 19th century and 1940.
Although the Ardennes draught horse has gradually dwindled in number over the years, competitions (with no less than 200 horses) are still held every year, attracting large crowds to the province of Belgian Luxembourg.
Nowadays, the Libramont Agriculture, Forestry and Agri-food Fair is the biggest annual open-air event of its kind in Europe. Every year it attracts almost 200,000 visitors, and 1,500 exhibitors and brands over a 300,000 m² site.
It’s a unique window on many aspects of rural life, from mechanisation to breeding, forestry, agribusiness and more.
It takes place on the multipurpose site of Libramont Exhibition & Congress
