6920 WELLIN
Born in 1987 - along with the resurrection of the Bon Géant Wandalino (Wandalino the Good Giant) who is six metres tall and accompanied by his Nutons in 1988 - the Carnival of Wellin expanded rapidly in 1989 with the creation of a series of giants by the city boroughs. In Chanly the miller Henry of Thrisnes, in Halma the knight Lambert, in Daverdisse: Jean de Daverdisse. In 1990 and 1994, the family increased in size with the addition of la dame de Wellin (the lady of Wellin) and Godefroid de Wellin (Geoffry of Wellin).
The Carnival - outstandingly impressive and vibrant - is brought to life by street acrobats and famous Lomprez macrâles as well as many other groups not only from the region of Wellin, but also from France, Holland and beyond.
Don't miss the famous tourteline, the carnival's special dish.
