Diversity is the key characteristic in the province of Liège. In just a few miles, the flat country fields are replaced by winding valleys. One of these can in fact be described as the "lost country": the valley of the Our. Like every other village in the Ardennes, Burg-Reuland has adapted remarkably well to the meteorological conditions of this ancient mountain range. The ruins of the fortress are an imposing site. We now leave Burg-Reuland and head off on a road that snakes its way through the countryside. The late Gothic Church of Saint-Hubert, dating from the 15th century is probably one of the most splendid churches in the Eastern Cantons.
We then reach the village of l'Our. The river, teeming with fish and bursting with oxygen, attracts a remarkable variety of fauna.

CASTLE OF BURG-REULAND (BURG-REULAND) The earldom that later became the Duchy of Luxembourg reached its peak during the 13th and 14th centuries, when its rulers also acceded to the title of Emperor of the Germanic Saint Empire. At this point in history, the Duchy of Luxembourg included the medieval seigniors of Burg-Reuland. The castle's origins can be traced to the 9th and 10th centuries, but the entire complex has been modified significantly since then, most importantly to adapt its defences to artillery attacks in the 15th century. Although it was destroyed by French revolutionary troops at the end of the 18th century, it has recently been restored to its former medieval glory.
