The new Brussels Turn of the Century Museum will be inaugurated on 13 November 2012
It will open its doors where the Modern Art Museum stands and will display works from the 19th century taken from the former museum and readapted to suit this new historical focus. The museum will showcase artists that were active from 1868 and participated in the making of the Free Society of Fine-Arts whereby they introduced a debate on the concept of modernity in Belgium.
This new museum owns its birth to partners Royal Museums of Fine-Arts of Belgium, the Royal Library of Belgium, the Royal Theatre of the Monnaie and the Brussels-Capital Region. The latter will be contributing with the extraordinary collection of Gillion Crowet's works as a culminating point of the visit.
The "Turn of the Century Museum" will undoubtedly become one of the gems of the Belgian artistic heritage. An absolute must during your next visit to Brussels!
