CASTLE OF LA ROSERAIE

7600 PERUWELZ - MAPS: Google Maps
- Opening Dates
Building from the beginning of the 19th century. It belonged to Edmond Baugnies, rich industrial from Peruwelz. On the façade the elevations combine nooks and projections. The materials chosen were pink granite and bluestone: brick was ruled out. The entrance to the château is off-centre. In front we find a portico with two-tone, ringed columns that support a balcony. The opening on to this balcony is flanked by small columns and surmounted by a small pointed pediment. The central part of the building rises up from the roof forming a tower surmounted by a dome. On either side of the main central part of the building are pavilions of different heights and sizes. Some Art Nouveau detail can be seen here. Inside, luxurious drawing rooms can still be found whose décor combines gilt and stucco.
