SAINT-GERY - DANSAERT, SOURCE DE CREATIVITE
Legend or historical fact? Beneath the high roof of Halles Saint-Géry stands an imposing blue stone pylon in pride of place. It is assumed to be the 'point zero' from which all distances from Brussels are measured. But whatever its purpose, it was on these ancient islets in the middle of marshland that the first inhabitants settled a thousand years ago. Today, it is still one of Brussels' liveliest districts and the place to see the locals in action.
